Yves Saint Laurent said "I have always placed above all respect for this profession that is not quite an art, but which needs an artist to exist". Fundación MAPFRE , in collaboration with the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent , has the honor to present the exhibition Yves Saint Laurent . Previously exhibited in 2010 at the Petit Palais in Paris, she looks at forty years of creation. This is the first retrospective in Spain at this great artist and creator. Divided into 11 themed areas, the exhibition presents a selection of 150 models haute couture and ready-to-wear, complete with over 80 drawings, photographs and films. The staging creation is orchestrated as a dramatic increase since the beginning of Yves Saint Laurent at Dior, with its legendary collection "Trapeze" (1958), to the splendor of her evening gowns. The evolution of Yves Saint Laurent style and the foundations of his work are placed in a historical context, illustrated with drawings (level -1), photographs and films. The different spaces have an overview of the artistic and cultural inspirations from this designer, who devoted his talent to clothe the general public without sacrificing in the manufacture of exclusive designs for the woman of his dreams. The course ends with a final flourish of colors and designs that are the work of Yves Saint Laurent to present.
