Natalie Rae’s debut collection represents the coming together of Mexican and American culture. The collection fuses elements of traditional Mexican silhouettes and craft with modern day Mexican-American street culture and 1950’s American casual dress. The collection is punctuated with subtle tailoring elements and silhouettes that are at once feminine and masculine. Embroidered pieces evoke traditional Mexican style, with a modern, abstract twist on the classic motif of nature. These threaded collages weave together plant and animal shapes, creating explosions of colour and texture. The collection is made up of a combination of raw organic, sustainable silks, organic denim and soft organic cottons. The colours of these looks move from warm creams to bright yellows, highlighted with blues and pinks.

Natalie Rae is based in London, United Kingdom. She studied at London College of Fashion and graduated in 2010. Her collections are produced in United Kingdom.

My approach to fashion design is always about wearability and practicality. In an age where sustainability is becoming a growing issue, its important to look every step of the production process and help create a cycle that eliminates waste and in turn starts with a unique garment that is ready to go from start to finish. In order to keep my ideas wearable but individual, I integrate hand crafted textures, exciting colors combinations and feminine silhouettes but without over complicating the look.
With my experience at London College of Fashion as well as London itself, I have become more and more absorbed with sustainability in fashion. With that, I would like to make more of a contribution to the current fashion industry in helping create commercial products that are ethically and environmentally sound.
My skill set is genuinely well-rounded, I have a strong mix of business, technical and creative experience - with strengths in research, design, pattern making, sewing, hand detailing and production management.
