The initial inspiration for the NARCISS Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection ”SnowBow: Act I“ is a snowbow. This is a rare weather phenomenon formed when sunlight is reflected and refracted by ice crystals in the air. It is similar to a rainbow, but only occurs in snowy weather. Despite its faint colours, snowbow is brilliant in its beauty which lies in its instant nature. The bow in the word snowBow also refers to a bow as a ribbon. Ribbons are used throughout the collection, both in their traditional way as separate decorative elements as well as being neatly constructed into the garments as organic and almost invisible parts.

The name of the up-and-coming London-based fashion label NARCISS derives from the ancient Greek myth about a handsome young man Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection. Instead of advocating sick narcissism and self-obsession, NARCISS encourages women to be more self-confident and fell in love with themselves in a healthy way.

There is every chance we may never see the woman behind NARCISS close to the catwalk- Alise Trautmane. Despite the tremendous successful corporate career, with her strong academic background in Law and Economics, Alise decided to quit the corporate world. After attending lectures in Central St. Martins College of Art and Design and Istituto Europeo di Design, the fashion label NARCISS was launched. Love for beauty and fashion is she.
