MODERNMARTYR

the collection "my my is my castle" was - in the first place - inspired by the phenomenom of hikikomori. (Ryu Murakami Time International (Asia) (May 1) “Japan’s Lost Generation” vol. 155, no. 17, p. 49: (...) Loosely translated as “social withdrawal,” hikikomori refers to the state of anomie into which an increasing number of young Japanese seem to fall these days. Socially withdrawn kids typically lock themselves in their bedrooms and refuse to have any contact with the outside world. They live in reverse: they sleep all day, wake up in the evening and stay up all night watching television or playing video games. Some own computers or mobile phones, but most have few or no friends. Their funk can last for months, even years in extreme cases. ) in my research i considered the topics of regression and isolation, as well as the symbol of the house standing for the soul and the philosophical impact of houses, rooms, places and non-places. aspects that interested me, when creating the collection, were the childish - regressive retreat to a dreamworld and the diffuse memories and emotions that arise within that process. a stream of fading memories and emotions that one remembers - or creates as a never-ending self-invention of ones biography. a world, that invites to dwell upon and completely submerge in, pretending security, while it offers nothing but circulation and stagnation. the collection “my my is my castle” contains 13 pieces. all of them are available in three different qualities: shibori silk, cotton and lined cotton. moreover there are t-shirts and accessoires. photos: yasmina haddad model: alina ott _ body and soul
