I’ve started my project from the body of a stuffed duck, and I’ve built some clothes that could be suit both by animal and woman.
The external items work as “protection clothes”, like bird’s nests, and they contain precious dresses in their inside. These ones are enriched with a particular technique that reproduce the bird’s plumage effect. The volumes are inspired by some positions that birds assume when they want to protect themselves from cold, while the texture, I created with an embroidery work, reproduces some graphic signs, like dots and lines, used in my drawings to depict bird’s feathers.
About the Designer
Maria Letizia is based in Italy. She studied at IUAV - Venice and graduated in 2011. Her collections are produced in Italy.
I'm a recent Fashion Design graduate of IUAV University,Venice, interested in drapping/moulage and garment construction.
My work reflects an attention to surface embellishment and my love for both embroidery and print. I enjoy working on design projects that extend the boundaries of both; using colour, texture, and embroidery as an essential part of the silhouettes that make a collection.
I also love drawing, experimenting with different fashion illustration techniques and mixed media.
I live in Vicenza, Italy, and I've also worked for a period in Stockholm, as accessories young designer.
