MICHELMAYER

Spring/Summer 2012 The Viennese designer deems the ability to concentrate on the essential to be a luxury. The rectangle, a simple abstract form is brought into a harmonious relationship with the human body. Trough draping or twisting, entirely new silhouettes come about. The change of the original form brings about a number of ways in which a piece may be worn: a skirt can turn into a dress or vice versa; a dress can be worn backside front or the other way; jackets can be turned upside down and allow a variety of looks and shapes. Apart from the geometrical elements, the collection concentrates on a very basic shape- a new- interpretation of the classic shift dress is born. Again, Michel Mayer explores the item’s versatility: mini dress, simple top or full length evening gown. Due to the fabrics’ feel, the cuts gain further individuality. The material palette encompasses flowing jersey combined with paper touch cotton all the way to high-tech fabrics. The color palette consists of different shades of rose up to a strong pink, honey gold, nudes, soft green and black for the evening gowns. Photos by Ernst Kainerstorfer
