‘The Sky is the Limit’ was inspired by MÊHLÊ’s childhood in the former Yugoslavia. For Spring/Summer 2014 they have interpreted their memories of celebrating the Day of Youth. An event where children would meet wearing brightly coloured tracksuits, an idealized dream of society where everything is possible and the slogan ‘Brotherhood and Unity’ seemed real. Lucy McKenzie’s trompe l’oeils installations and Rene Magritte’s paintings have also influenced the collection. For SS14, MÊHLÊ have produced technical outerwear in Ventile fabric, pleated dresses and soft separates in performance textiles. MÊHLÊ have also worked with a knitwear company introducing fully fashioned oversized knitted jumpers with intarsia details made out of soft italian cotton yarns. MÊHLÊ have collaborated to produce a range of ergonomic leather flat shoes with dal.si and customized eyewear by RVS by V.
