DESCRIPTION:
The story of 'Tribal Clish-Clash' brings together influences from two tribes who jar and intermix to create a new futuristic tribe. The Matis from the Amazon Jungle, with a lush leafy backdrop is contrasted with the Nyangatom from Ethopia, who live with modern weaponry amongst an arid landscape. Different styles and materials represent them, whilst the collection also draws inspiration from the theatrical 'dress-up' and music of underground club-culture. Full of juxtapositions, 'Tribal Clish-Clash' captures the essence of tribal worlds, channelling their raw energy and contrasting this against the poised stillness of ancient wise warriors, which is explored in this latest fashion shoot.THE SHOP | MY ITEMS

ABOUT ME
Maria Lau's playful yet elegant creations blur the boundary between jewellery and clothing. Juxtaposing the ordinary and familiar with the more demure, she uses hand techniques such as braiding and knotting to transform materials commonly found in clothing and accessories. Hosiery, shock-cord elastic and zips are elegantly mixed with semi-precious stones, minerals and metals to create a harmony between casual and luxury. Maria Lau has worked with Hussein Chalayan, Michiko Koshino and DKNY as well as up-and-coming fashion designers.
