Maiami is a young knitwear label from Berlin. The collection consists of handknitted sweaters, cardigans and accessories with a modern and special impression, achieved through the use of colour, the placement of motifs and the combination of knit with other materials.
The label Maiami was brought to life in the late summer of 2003 by Maike Dietrich. The decisive trigger that set the ball rolling was not the plan to create a fashion label but the request for a product of a beautiful hobby. The first collection then consisted of six turtlenecks presenting conspicuous over-size motifs, created on request for acquaintances and friends. After initial publications in the press, an invitation to the MTV fashion market in October 2003, and contacts to first shops across Germany which were supplied with a small number of Maiami sweaters, events had taken their irreversible course. The collections increased as did the number of shops that sold them. Today, Maiami is presented in designer shops on an international scale. Working at home and a life in wool has made way for an atelier in the Auguststrasse. Further plans have been made, both for conquering new markets and for exploring new areas with knitwear………
