LU_FLUX

For Spring Summer 2012 Lu Flux draws her influences from expectations of a tropical British Summer and then, the reality. The idyllic Polynesian collection oozes summer fun, complete in candy colours and Hawaiian imagery. “A-Lu-Ha” clings to the anticipation of a scorching summer in the mind’s eye of Britain. Then, as forecast, there is an interruption with a downpour of British showers. The hope of paradisiacal blue skies, endless days of sunshine lying on a pure white sandy beach complete with grass skirts, Tiki mask and leis is crushed by rain, to be replaced with jam making and macramé potholders at a car boot sale in a field in Kent.

Lu is based in London, United Kingdom. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art. Her collections are produced in United Kingdom.

Lu Flux is a London designer who specialises in creating unique pieces of ethical clothing.
The cornerstones of Lu Flux lie in fashion that delights in playfulness, British eccentricity and the intertwining of traditional techniques with modern design. The intensive labour adopted in her designs can be seen in the complex pleating, knitting and antiquated patch working. These techniques are honoured and employed to produce luxurious garments that celebrate the romance of the rare ‘one-off’. Modern shapes where fabrics and patterns associated with delicacy and gentle beauty are presented as witty, colourful and are at times illusory.
All of her garments are made out of organic, reclaimed and vintage materials, the aim is to make something new out of something old, so as to consume less and reduce waste.
