After 2011’s bleak winter of riots and recession, it’s time for a fresh new start and new beginnings with the ‘KAGE Spring’ – the much-awaited KAGE Spring 2012 Collection has finally launched. This season, KAGE brings us something fresh, colourful, playful, and precious – beautiful garments to take you from a riotous winter to a brave new world of summer sun and serenity. As always, these are laid back garments for the girl next door, the girl who is un-KAGE-ed, who loves freely and thinks for herself. 'KAGE Spring' is all about Monet-like printed jackets, lovely lace, cute collars, dainty detailed t-shirts and cut-out scoop racerback dresses. A big craze for Spring 2012 – chiffon – features strongly in this collection. Popular polka dots and peplums are inventively interpreted by KAGE into sexy structural pieces – an orange and black Little KAGE Dress (LKD) and a sultry beige and black polka dot playsuit. Key to the collection are the collars that forge femininity with boyish playfulness; mixed with tuxedo tops and jackets, these are confident looks for mysterious girls. The colour palette for the ‘KAGE Spring’ is childlike and coquettish. Bright, exploding colours dominate alongside more muted colour blocking, with mid blues and yellows making a fresh statement and more mellow colours, like melons, lilacs and lemons giving an innocent and pure aesthetic. Light blue denim, casual and cool, features for the first time on both flared pants and shirt tunics. Like with all previous collections, the statement KAGE jersey tee is prevalent. And like with previous seasons, these tees add a whimsical and lighthearted touch to the collection. This year, elegant epaulettes, fabric feathers and cute cut-out stars and owls all adorn the signature tee. These are clothes for the riviera, lounging in lace on deck chairs by the sea. These are clothes for whiling away hours on swings and playing in playgrounds.
