j ́ai mal à la tête was founded in 2012 by Anja Pawlik and Roman Dorfner in Munich, Germany. With a phrase from his work 'The Book of Disquiet' the Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa provides the inspiration for the name of the label. "J'ai mal à la tête et à l'univers" translates as "Too much is crackling in, while nothing entangles." The focus on what stays seems to be more important than ever. Thus, Anja and Roman create autonomous fashion beyond medial imperatives or trendy randomness. In their collections they play with stereotypical male images, without neglecting the high standards men and women demand from their clothing. A sporty but yet elegant silhouette meets the need of postmodern individualists to dress masculinely and originally at the same time. Playful details complement clear shapes without declaring these contrasts an exerted principle. The ideal of “J'ai mal à la tote” is to transform the swift zeitgeist into timeless pieces.
This sustainability in creation lives on in the sustainability of their production. Each piece is manufactured completely in Germany. The striking distance to all steps of the manufacturing ensures qualitative standards and fair production. “We place great value on the high quality of our products by using premium fabrics where modern technology is combined with the long-standing tradition and expertise. Our designs, premium materials and craftsmanship gives each item a unique appearance and haptic.” By now, this mix of avant-garde and wearability finds its audience not only in Germany, but internationally. Started as a menswearlabel, j ́ai mal à la tote launched their womenswear offering with a Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
