I'VR_ISABEL VOLLRATH's collections betray an overarching artistic claim.
After an apprenticeship as a gentlemen's tailor in Baden-Baden and an internship with costume tailor and couturier Stefano Nicolao in Venice, she studied fashion design at the Berlin Weißensee School of Art.
After her studies, she won the "Go-East-Scholarship" of the DAAD to spend two months at the Stieglitz-Academy for Art and Design in St. Petersburg.
In May 2010, her collection "Ca'd'Oro" received the "Career Advancement Prize" by the Wilhelm-Lorch-Foundation.
“Isabel Vollrath`s collection “Ca’d’Oro” is particularly outstanding. The “Ca’ d’Oro” was once one of the most beautiful palaces at the Grand Canal in Venice. Vollrath was inspired by this palace and the city and transfers this to her clothing. The collection is characterized by colourful mosaics, transparent materials, arrangements in layers, materials with prints and embroideries, folds, pleating and golden stitching.” (Anna-Lena Kramß, AMD, for creative face Magazin: seefashion09, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin/Berlin-Weißensee School of Art)
From April 2011 to March 2012 she received the "Elsa-Neumann-Scholarship" of the city of Berlin to create new artistic fashion work. The result, her collection "Lost and found St. Petersburg", was awarded with the "Baltic Fashion Award 2011" in the category "Best innovative and visionary concept" - and with the advancement prize 2011 by the Berlin Chamber of Crafts.
"Isabel Vollrath`s collection is a poetic narration composed of various different stories. The bolero jacket made from ballet shoes, the coat made from coffee sacks, a coat with cardboard gloves as brooch, the jumpsuit made from mail bags – each piece creates its way into the viewers` hearts. Her answer to the confrontation of various materials is a convincing, creative and feminine one: She takes us on a journey." (Wolfgang Ley, Baltic Fashion Award in the category "Best innovative and visionary concept")
ISABEL VOLLRATH is living and working in Berlin (Germany).
