Naming his debut collection after his muse, Marchesa Casati, “The Casati’s” truely reflects of how Graham sees and believes in a Modern sophisticated women. From paying homage to his cultural roots as a Chinese, Graham was inspired to create a story of the Marchesa Casati heading over to a soil she has never been before - China in the early 20th Century. It was when the whole chemistry begins, seeing the transition of her wardrobe evoluation from fully western to a new hybrid kind. From embracing the beauty of Qing Dynasty Costumes, Graham depicts Marchesa’s “mircale” journey to China, and a particular highlight is drawn to the fact that the Femme Fatale’s attempt to get into the Forbidden City to see the Empress Dowager Cixi. Graham’s designs are highly driven by both Marchesa Casati‘s fashion and the traditional Chinese Qing dynasty costumes. By pushing the boundaries, alongside heavily accessorising the collection with various Swarovski crystals and beadings, Graham decides to use a range of materials such as Nappa Leather, suede, inventive knits and laser cut plastic to create a chemisty with the traditionally inspired silhouette line-up. His aim is to redefine the past aesthetics of some of the best Chinese and Western fashion back in the early 20th Century.
