GINAMELOSI

Gina's debut jewellery collection crystalized from a fascination with body modification practices and Live Art, culminating in the creation of jewellery from broken glass fragments. While technically wearable, her glass shard jewellery is not for the faint-hearted, so she sought to alchemise a luxurious collection in precious metal inspired by this conceptual work. She casts shards of glass directly into recycled Sterling Silver, highlighting the contrasts between delicacy and roughness inherent in the original broken panes. The 13-piece collection is plated in either White Rhodium or Rose 24 kt fine gold. The Rose Gold pieces are pavé-set with fair-trade Royal Kings Plain Sapphire®, a rare rich blue sapphire mined in the Australian state of New South Wales. The stones follow the fault lines in the broken glass and are set in a stylized way which adds to the pieces' edgy yet sophisticated allure. All of the box chains are recycled 9kt white Gold and manufactured in the U.K. All other findings such as wire are either recycled Sterling Silver or 9kt White Gold. Each piece is handmade in Gina's workshop in Hatton Garden, London.

Gina is based in London, United Kingdom. She studied at Sir John Cass Dept. of Art, Media, and Design and graduated in 2009. Her collections are produced in United Kingdom.

Award-winning jewellery designer Gina Melosi creates conceptual, fashion-forward jewellery with a sensitivity toward sourcing materials from fair-trade suppliers and minimizing her environmental impact. Gina's designs often tread a thin line between delicate and slightly dangerous, bold yet highly wearable, playing with contrasts of form, texture, colour, and meaning which culminate in exquisite objects of adornment.
Raised in Texas, but based in London, Gina founded her own label in late 2010, a year after graduating from London Metropolitan University with an MA in Jewellery Design. She draws heavily from her background in Fine Art and Photography in her approach to producing aesthetic pieces. Showing promising creative talent in art and music from a young age, Gina aspired to be an artist and designer. However her pathway to jewellery came later in life after exploring other less satisfying pursuits.
Gina’s debut collection SHATTERED fragments launched early 2011. The 13-piece collection is cast in recycled Sterling Silver and plated in either White Rhodium or Rose 24 kt fine gold and pavé-set with fair-trade sapphires.
