GABO_S

My final textile collection of jersey dresses depicts The Elysian Fields, the mythological happy place in the Greek Underworld where all animals and heroic souls came together. The imagery used in the prints is inspired by a painting by Jan Brueghel which shows his idea of paradise. I use bright contrasting colours alongside computer-generated geometric prints (based on Ancient Greek Key patterns) and hand-drawn wraparound scenes of animals, birds and flowers to create mixed print designs. These are then embellished with sequins, appliqué and vinyl to create dresses that are alternative and quirky. I design for a woman who expresses her personality through her clothing - someone who is happy and smiles all of the time.
