A couple are two people that over time have become connected. They have chosen to spend their life together. But when one half is committed to a life that means they must spend time apart a period of separation begins.
The woman is left at home to cope. The man must carry out his military commitments abroad.
This collection aims to create a meeting point between the male military influences and the women’s home comforts. A connection between the military and the mundane. She finds comfort in the everyday objects that surround her, that once surrounded them.
Knitwear creates the base of this connection. From military jumpers to hand knit cables, it comforts her and keeps her warm. It is oversized and slightly androgynous as she finds comfort in shapes that connect elements of him and her.
About the Designer
Freya is based in Kingston Upon Thames, United Kingdom. She studied at Kingston University and graduated in 2012.
Concept lies at the heart of all my work. My aim is to create innovative, unique pieces of wearable knitwear where exciting silhouettes work alongside unique texture, colour combinations. In an industry that is ever growing with competition I believe clothes should tell a story.
On the verge of Graduation from Kingston University with BA(Hons) in Fashion design and experiencing my first collection 'Connections' walk down the GFW runway I am excited to enter into the industry and take my first steps towards my end goal of setting up my own sustainable knitwear brand.
