FLYKAROLINE

One cold, winters evening, my best friend and I were reminiscing about the past and how funny it was that he happened to also be the love of my teenage years. After the laughter had mellowed, he asked me to design and make a pair of cufflinks for him. Jumping at the chance to create something for someone I cared greatly for, I accepted his request with a huge smile on my face. With the delight still running through my veins, I asked him what type of design he would prefer. To which he replied 'Use your heart' I then asked when he would like them for. The answer was like a dagger to my heart. Fueled by a paradoxical mixture of joy and dejection at the thought of him getting married, I returned home in a zombie-like state and set to work on the design. After many hours spent sketching in silence and darkness, I finally came up with the perfect piece. When the two cufflinks are placed together, they form the shape of a heart to represent the love of the future bride and groom. When separated, however, the heart and all its love is hidden. The piece was designed from the bottom of my broken heart.
