_vacuum was inspired by the mechanisms of creation. Many contemporary physicists believe that matter is created through collisions of elementary particles. I have decided to determine such core elements of fashion design and imagined pattern-making particles - pieces of garments' patterns - colliding. As a result new designs emerged - some of the clothes' layers were multiplied, some were misplaced, some overlapped each other. Some garments merged together, other looked as if there was a void spot left after a missing 'particle'. Collision became the moment of creation.

About the Designer

EWA_CYLWIK's picture

Ewa is based in Barcelona, Spain; Warsaw, Poland.

Ewa Cylwik designs for people who value their individuality and for whom fashion is a way of completing it.
Exploring contrasts and reinventing shapes are core to Ewa's projects. She is a minimalist. Each piece is developed in an architectural manner, as the void is as important as the dressed. Designing becomes a way of organising space - the silhouette.
In her work Ewa often defines and exploits links between fashion and art. Her conceptual approach incorporates photography, video art and audiovisual space as integral part of her projects. New media serve not only as a way of presentation of her designs, but also amplify fashion as a visual experience.
