Trentini Couture

...breathing new life into the "dirndl"

I will never forget the feeling when I first saw the very cheesy movie Sissi. I remember it like yesterday. I begged my parents to buy me Sissi books for Christmas and I spent hours trying to draw the beautiful dresses. Enrolling at Esmod fashion school Munich in 2001 was just a logical step from there. After many little jobs working as a stylist for TV and movie productions, I launched the fashion-label Trentini Couture in 2006 and fulfilled my dream of becoming a fashion designer. The name Trentini takes its origin from my mother’s family and its roots in Trento in Northern Italy. As a Bavarian child, I was surrounded by traditional dresses from an early age on. When I started looking for the perfect Dirndl, I became frustrated with what I found and ended up designing my own unusual and luxurious line of traditional fashion.

Julia is a fashion designer today, because…

I have dreamed my whole life of becoming a fashion designer, to touch and feel the exclusive fabrics and create something beautiful.

If Julia would not have become a designer…

Maybe, I would have become a great chef. Also in this profession, you can create incredible flavours by using different ingredients.

At school/university she was…

So happy and feeling so good, as I was finally being able to do what I always wanted to do. It was an exciting time and I didn’t have to worry about my future.

Julia and Christine's friends think…

Our friends think that we are full of life with a happy spirit, even during the most stressful times. Sometimes they are worried we might have a nervous breakdown at some point, or that we drink too much beer at the Oktoberfest...

When Julia was 17 she dreamed of…
Singing better than Callas, cooking better than Bocuse and designing better than Dior.

She knew she was going to become a fashion designer when…

I realised I was a bad singer and a mediocre chef.

She didn’t mind getting her hands dirty...shortening trousers…but would never…

Mend socks.

Julia gets really het up about…

Distrust and envy. These are the worst attributes.

The defining moment in her career was…

Julia: The first order for a Dirndl from New York.

Christina: Meeting Julia.

For a day, Julia would like to be…

Romy Schneider in the movie “Sissi”, because she was wearing the most amazing dresses.

What would be Julia and Christine's soundtrack to life?
Julia: ACDC - Highway to Hell.

Christina: Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana.

Julia's biggest regret was…

Non, je ne regrette rien.

You would describe each others personality as…

Christina: Julia is a wonderful person, she combines professionalism with affection and great spirit. She's game for everything and the term boredom does not exist in her vocabulary.

Julia: I think we are bloody similar.

We wish the next Julia and Christina…

Our valuable contacts, the same luck and the same wonderful friends. Our stamina….but mainly as much fun as we are having right now.

If Julia could live her life again…

I would do exactly the same in the same order.
