The RG Designer Award

Since 2004 – always in the month of April, the Ringstrassen-Galerien become the centre stage to one of the highlights of the Austrian Fashion Year: The elegant Shopping Mall awards the much sought–after Austrian Design Award, called the Ringstrassen-Galerien Designer Award. Young talented designers will get the opportunity to present their creative work to a greater audience.

In 2010 the Ringstrassen-Galerien Designer Award will be extended to international designers; for the first time the cooperation between the Ringstrassen-Galerien and NOT JUST A LABEL will offer the opportunity to international designers to present their design in the course of a Designer Award Gala to a large audience and a chance to win the sought-after trophy.

Following the previous winners - Elfenkleid (2004), Martina Rogy (2005), Thomas Kirchgrabner (2006), Awareness & Consciousness (2007), Marcel Ostertag (2008) und Angel (Transformation, 2009) – international designer will also have the chance to utilise the Ringstrassen-Galerien Designer Award as a steppingstone for a recognized national and international career.

The theme for 2010 is “Black And White”, and was inspired by Coco Chanel’s famous quote: “I said that black goes with everything. White also. They have absolute beauty. It is the perfect match.” This year’s theme will challenge national and international designer to create cutting-edge designs. A renowned expert jury will choose the 8 finalists, focusing on implementation of the theme, the choice of fabrics and the manufacture of the design. The finalists’ submitted outfits will be exhibited at the Ringstrassen-Galerien from April 4th until April 21st 2010 and the winner will be presented from April 22nd until May 1st 2010 at the same premises.
