SERGUEI POVAGUIN

Serguei Povaguin was born in 1980 in Klintsky, Russia. As a teenager he moved to Spain and later studied at the ESDI (Escuela Superior de Diseño de Sabadell) where he graduated as a fashion and textile designer. He later also graduated from the University of Southampton. He has been living and working in Barcelona since 1998, where his atelier is located, and where in early 2007 he set up his own company and brand. The most noted among his first projects are “I love Spain”, which won him the ModaFad Pure White Award for the best collection (Summer 2002), and “Flamenco”, presented at the London Graduates Week (May 2004), the Berliner Durcheise Preview (July 2004) and the Genial Fashion STIB (September 2004). Both movement and dance influenced his early collections: flamenco and ballroom dances of the '30s were an inspiration. During 2005 and 2006 he presented various collections at CreaModa in Bilbao, Barcelona Fashion Week, Pasarela Gaudí and Barcelona Bridal Week. He has also designed five collections for the Mexican label, Chivas Guadalajara, including a women's, men's and children's sports line and a collection of uniforms for the crew of Omnifly airline. Since February 2008 he has presented his collections at Madrid’s Fashion Week, Ego de Cibeles. Serguei was awarded with the L’Oreal Prize for Best Collection in September 2008 and February 2009. Currently, he regularly presents his collections during Paris Fashion Week at showroom Rendez-Vous Femme.
