SAGER FORSBERG

...feel like a natural woman

I was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, and have always enjoyed drawing and making clothes – but never thought of becoming a fashion designer when I was younger. I have been travelling and working here and there, before starting my Foundation Studies at London College of Fashion. It was during that course I learned that designing clothes is what I really want to do. I continued with a BA in womenswear at Central Saint Martins: an amazing time, lots of hard work and good people. I finally based my degree collection on equestrian safety wear, looking at fastenings, function, traditional elegance, and fabrics. I was also inspired by tailored menswear, using lots of silk and wool, combined with technical and synthetic fabrics, and elastic and Velcro for fastenings. Garments for a natural woman with lots of personality, who might not be very interested in fashion as in “fashion trends” but in quality and clothes to love and wear for a long time. During and after my last year in college I also worked as a freelance menswear designer.

Nothing inspires me like...
Nature.

I hope...
That one day there will be justice in the world.

Cultural influences...
Exist everywhere in London.

I got where I am...
Because I have worked very hard.

Fashion can sometimes...
Be very shallow and have nothing to do with really talented people.

I dance like...
A person who thinks she is good at dancing (but isn’t).

Creativity comes from...
Your heart and soul and moves through your mind.

Love is...
Lovely.

My dreams are...
Yet to be realized.

My future...
Lies ahead of me and is equally scary and exciting.

I live East/North...
In Stoke Newington, it's nice.

There's a new...
Album out by Glasvegas.

I'm a perfectionist...
When it comes to cleaning and sewing.

My mum...
Is great.

I tried to live...
In London and I still do (and everything is still too expensive).
