Nichole de Carle

...strength, confidence and style
Nothing inspires me like…
Success and determination. I love to see those who achieve their dream through hard work and persistence. Architecture is however a close second. I design and am inspired by some of the most iconic buildings around the world including that of the Louvre in Paris, Westminster Abbey in London and the Chrysler building in New York. Who would have thought that a lingerie designer could be creatively inspired by structural design and skyscrapers.
I hope…
That you will discover yourself before I do. I have met some very interesting and fascinating characters in my life so far. Those who live their lives with wide eyes and open minds will always strike me as interesting. Never live life unnoticed.
Cultural influences…
Affect the way people communicate and interact with eachother. I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the journeys I want to take, all the stories I want to read, and all the friends and loved ones I want to hold.
I got where I am...
Today because I convinced others to believe in me. Don’t let life discourage you; everyone has to start somewhere, somehow. Remember the past, plan for the future, but live for today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come again.
Fashion can sometimes...
Take away our individuality, if we let it. At the age of 6, I remember cutting up my mother’s kitchen apron into a more shorter playful alternative. I will never forget how much it made her smile, still to this very day. Since then, I have continued to design and create my own vision of how fashion is perceived and embraced by women. Fashion has the power to transform a woman’s identity.
Did you know…
That I wear my own knickers everyday? How could I even think about wearing any other. It’s silk, dynamic, fashion-forward lingerie that I just can’t seem to get enough of.
I once thought…
About designing underwear for men. Funny I tried it once too and it was a very entertaining venture. I have since developed a strong bespoke clientele for both women and occasionally men.
There's a new...
Celebrity wearing my lingerie. Cheryl Cole’s tour was dressed and undressed in striking sexy intimate apparel. Emma Watson, Kara Tointon and Rosie Huntington Whitely are also loyal fans of the brand.
I wouldn't pay for…
A taxi when I could walk. The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it. I love to explore and discover the world in the simplest way possible.
I tried to live...
Like a gypsy once. Whist starting the lingerie business, I was lucky enough to have friends with very comfortable sofas.
The earliest memory...
Drawing under the kitchen table. With my new crayons. To only find a picture of a pair of boobies many years later.
Love now because…
Later is too late. In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.
Money makes…
Me profitable, but happiness is not determined by money. I have always worked like I don’t need money. It keeps me sane at the best of times. I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day. One thing I have learnt from a very young age is that there is no wealth but life. The best things in life really are for free.
I don't think...
You should take yourself too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. In life you can make your own decisions or let other people make those decisions for you. Being above the influence is about staying true to yourself, and not letting people pressure you into being less than you. So be yourself! My dad used to say to me whatever you choose to be, be a good one and do it well.
My future is…
What I make it. As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend, or maybe even fall in love with them. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time-outs, no second chances. You just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance like nobody is watching you, hold someone's hand, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances and, most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back.
