Tuesday 18th September - 09:00am
Kingsland Road to Kings Road, East meets West! 3939 pop-up store at Bluebird shop Chelsea invited us for a delicious breakfast on this last day of London Fashion Week. Just what we needed after 4 days of shows, events and after parties. Welcoming hosts and guests alike gathered around a table full of mouthwatering pastries, coffee and fruits for this exciting launch. The stylish independent 3939 shop will have its own space for 6 months at the Bluebird shop and will provide the West-End customers with carefully selected emerging brands across the world. The 3939 shop promises to bring a truly independent daring vision and youthful energy into this new pop-up space. Some of the most alluring pieces had to be the summery dresses specially designed by Craig Lawrence. Super short and super sexy, they are pieces perfect for any occasion whether you are heading out East or West, they've got you covered!

Tuesday 18th September - 09:30am
The film showcase at Somerset House this morning presented three notably differing collections. NJAL's Martina Spetlova gave us a feast for the eyes with striking green and blue pleats and weaves portrayed in a chopped-up collage style of film, and made velcro strapped sandals look cool with her models sporting a holographic version. Jayne Pierson captured our attention with her cute daughter as one of the live models wearing a child's version of a dress from the collection, also featured in her film entitled 'Brave'. The film featured themes of nature, rawness and womanhood. Christina Sabaiduc had us in 3D glasses to get the full effect of her film 'The Meeting Place', where a lone model showed the sporty yet delicate printed creations in greys and purples against a concrete setting, the moody soundtrack adding a sense of emotion and depth.

Tuesday 18th September - 11:45am
Leutton Postle gave a great presentation at The Freemasons Hall this morning, with the collection consisting of super fine knits with geometric Aztec designs in rich reds, blues, greens and, of course, bright gold along with ultra light weight materials used for the trousers and sleeves. Overall a great summer time collection with plenty of acid bright patterns and tassels thrown in for good measure!

Tuesday 18th September - 12:30am
Nova Chiu's Spring Summer 2013 collection is inspired by a road trip taken by the creative design duo. Images of mountains, forests, cities and waterfalls digitally manipulated into surreal acid colour prints have been used on silk, satin, cotton and spandex to make tights and plastic layered skirts with beautifully tailored dresses and jackets, all showing the bright colours or summer and images of nature. It's hard not to get excited about SS13!

Tuesday 18th September - 13:30pm
We met our lovely Designer Focus competition winner, Emily, outside Vauxhall Fashion Scount and gave her the VIP ticket, which she embraced with a big smile on her face! The presentation started with a champagne and Snog frozen yoghurt reception - What better way to get started? The first model walked in a sporty white silver 2-piece outfit and started playing the drums. As soon as the beat hit, the other models came and positioned themselves in the middle of the hall, moving to the sounds of the drums. Myrza De Muynck made use of her signature style - sporty yet elegant - very well. The colours were kept to a lovely pastel scale with white, silver, grey and mellow yellow being the main focus. We liked the short intermezzo of music, beats and fashion and Myrza's applause was well deserved. Our lucky winner was impressed as well and loved the presentation.

Tuesday 18th September - 17:30pm
The Swedish School of Textiles show was something we were really looking forward to, since NJAL is always on the look out for emerging young talents. And with Scandinavian design already an established trend within the fashion industry, all our expectations were certainly met. Well known for cool and sleek cuts, Sweden is definitely a country to pay attention to. Fourteen of their best design graduates showcased on this sunny and final day of London Fashion Week. Overall the show was boundary-pushing and one could clearly tell that the students had put their hearts into every piece of their collections. From black leather robes to fluffy white over-dimensional jumpers, we saw it all. One of our clear favourites was Sofia Bahlner presenting her ‘Under Con-Struction’ collection. The colourful bubble dress made even the back rows stand up and take snapshots. Another one to watch is Daniel Bendzovski, featuring his ‘Trend Stereotype Trend Stereotype Trend’ pieces. His models were dressed in giant paper bags with fur prints which gave the ‘faux fur’ expression a whole new meaning. These young graduates once again proved that real talent in London can more and more be discovered at off-schedule events.

Tuesday 18th September - 18:03pm
The Adam Andrascik SS13 presentation took place at The Royal Society of the Arts in a long room lined with models on either side. The silhouettes were clean and minimal, black and white, with interesting fabric combinations such as mesh, net and patent leather. As you made your way around the room, little surprises began to appear: a model with a seemingly simple, dark tailored outfit turned slightly to reveal a cream draped panel cascading from the back; another wore a skirt of fluro yellow. Certain features recurred: sheer panels, displaced shirt collars and A-line styles.

Tuesday 18th September - 18:29pm
Jena Theo's 'Hell's Angels' SS13 collection began with peachy-grey blocks as backdrops, visually complimenting the models' outfits as they emerged into the salon that is the Portico Room at Somerset House. The looks featured intricate prints of dragons, flowers and doilies on harem-style trousers, structured dresses and boned bodices. The same patterns were also executed in crystal beading on a softer white gown towards the end of the show. The highlights were the unexpected styles - a skin-tight bodysuit and minidress of faded black denim, a cow-hide miniskirt and the unique white two-piece wooden wedge ankle boots.

Tuesday 18th September - 18:42pm
This season Aminaka Wilmont showed its 10th collection, and the talented design duo had decided to celebrate their achievement with flowers! Not to worry, their signature edgy style was still there. Even though the subtle and beautiful flower prints came in delicious colours, these were combined with sharply cut leather vests and suede jackets, the colour palette fading to monochrome black and white towards the end. Furthermore, the models sporting black hair and flowers tattooed on their skin, showed what the Aminaka Wilmont woman really is about. After half a decade in the business, this label is just going from strength to strength and are still very much one to watch!

Tuesday 18th September - 20:23pm
London Fashion Week may be over, but it came with some news that made everyone at NJAL very happy indeed. This year's Fashion Fringe Award, a competition set up by Colin McDowell and IMG nine years ago, featured two NJAL designers in its final. The star-studded show was chaired by Burberry's own Christopher Bailey, who, after an exciting showcase of the three finalists, announced the winners. All three finalists, Haizhen Wang, Vita Gottlieb and Teija showed their most recent work, which couldn't have been more different in terms of approach, inspiration, colour palette and execution. We are delighted to say, our Haizhen Wang made the end of the race and we congratulate him for winning the prestigious award. His collection is exclusively available on NJAL, so you can now support him yourself and shape the career of someone we will hopefully hear more about in the seasons to come.

Thanks for sharing London Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2013, with us over the past couple of days. We will continue our journey to Milan and Paris, before embarking on a trip through the fashion weeks and festivals that Eastern Europe has got to offer.

Over and Out!
