...transforming simplicity and lightness into uniquely versatile clothing

Brazilian born and raised, Julia Valle studied visual communications at UFMG and started working as an art director for fashion communication at Alphorria before her graduation. Soon after finishing her BA, she moved to Denmark to study fashion at DesignskolenKolding, where the opportunity to work with Maja Mehle and Henrik Vibskov came up. Returning to Brazil, the designer started working at Printing (a local haute couture brand) and founded her own little workshop, a space to create limited edition pieces and to experiment within the areas of fashion, graphic design, architecture, amongst others. In the past year, Julia exhibited twice in galleries in the USA and once in Slovenia. Winner of two "Rio Moda Hype prizes", Julia Valle confirms, with every new collection, her unique style led by simplicity and lightness in clever and versatile clothing. The last collection, "Generator", is an exercise in the stated fashion in large-scale production by randomising creation with the help of an exclusively created software.

Nothing inspires me like...
Over-simplicity of thinking in fine arts, crafts, literature, movies, music, design and baroque, excessive nature. I’m also a big fan of languages, numbers and foreign cultures; they can be great at inspiring me sometimes.

I hope…
People can evaluate better how they balance things in their lives, like money and status and leisure and social acts. It really could change the entire thing, even fashion.

Yes, please, from anywhere in the world. They are great additions to my already diversified Brazilian culture.

I got where I am...
Because I haven't had the chance yet to go any further.

Fashion can sometimes...
Get you really tired and annoyed because of all the ego-fighting. But it is a truly rich and flexible field of knowledge.

I'm a perfectionist…
When it comes to fabrics, sewing, cutting, relationships, food, music, art, but my wardrobe is still a mess.

Much before moulage-ing, maybe that’s why I like it so much.

Stuck in simplicity and closer to reality than I would have imagined as a child.

Crave for tea and feel at home, any flavour, any kind. It’s a sugary home I was raised in.
