JOHANNES FAKTOTUM

...a Jack of all menswear trades

Johannes Faktotum, meaning “jack-of-all-trades” is a menswear line established in February of 2009 by Johanna Bloomfield. The collection embodies the spirit of the traditional German guild of craftsmen known as the "Zimmermann". The masculine silhouette of the artisan's uniform is the basis for much of the collection, emphasising strength with pronounced shoulder lines and athletic inspired knitwear. Johanna began her career in menswear in 2002 when she moved from New York to London to study at London College of Fashion. She went on to gain work experience in Paris and Berlin, working for designers like Bless and Rick Owens. Johanna later returned to New York to work on the Ralph Lauren men’s collection. Combining the intricate details of vintage construction with her own personal style, she decided to bring together her diverse experience to form Johannes Faktotum.

Nothing inspires me like…
Unexpected surprises. I strongly believe that less is more, and that you can find inspiration in the everyday and banal.

I hope…
Actually hoping is sort of like wishing for something. Instead, I would prefer to rely on actions, and this is how you achieve your goals.

Cultural influences…
American sportswear and heritage brands.

I got where I am...
Through setting goals, and the support of friends and family.

Fashion can sometimes...
Be dismissed as frivolous, but is a major cultural driving force that greatly influences the way people act, feel and project themselves.

Money makes…
Things flow more easily.

I dance like…
I am in an early '90s rap video.

Creativity comes from…
Awareness and curiosity.

I have never…
Been to Japan.

My dreams are…
What gets me out of bed each day.

My vice is…
Knuckle cracking.

Pain comes from…
Regret.

I get bored easily...
By negativity.

I like making...
Things that excite and stimulate people’s interest.

I love getting older...
And gaining insight and wisdom.
