Jasper Garvida

...inspired by immaculate design

The clothes that I design are beautifully crafted pieces with intricate fabric manipulation and a whimsical fantasy-like quality. My work is often described as bold and dramatic and sometimes avant-garde, especially for the collection show pieces. As a passionate person and an innovative designer, I have exacting standards because top quality workmanship is the only way to excite my audience. Inspiration through design, to create a stunning collection. Winning Project Catwalk has helped me become more popular and I think it has given me a wider audience so that is good, but I'd like people to know me for my work rather than winning the show. My work is inspired by the lives of figureheads like Gala Dalí, wife of Salvador. The key look depends upon two contrasting elements – hard and soft. Intricate bead-work and hand-embellished pieces in sequins and glass beads, adorned over chiffon and silk. Shiny tailored jackets in silver and black and swing jackets that shimmer under the light. Heavily embellished skirts paired with soft silk chiffon and organza blouses. Eye-catching pieces which will delight the senses.

Jasper is a fashion designer today, because…

He was 3 years old when he made his first garment, it was a dress for his friend’s doll. I guess you could say Barbie was his first muse. He believes being a fashion designer was pre-determined.

If Jasper would not have become a designer…
There is nothing else Jasper can see himself doing. Fashion is the air that he breathes. It is one of the necessities for him to live.

At school/university he was…

The reserved and the quiet one who craved for attention and over time evolved into an attention seeker. Creating outlandish garments to provoke reaction.

Jasper’s friends think…

That he's a coiled spring, working tirelessly to further his dreams and ambitions. However on the odd occasion that he ventures out he's unleashed on an unsuspecting world.

When Jasper was 17 he dreamed of being…

Yves Sans Laurent working in a Parisian Salon.

He knew he would become a fashion designer, when…

He was 6 years old because he had become infatuated by how clothes were made. Largely inspired by watching his grandmother constructing by hand, garments such as his pyjamas.

He would never…

Stop believing in what was truly possible.

Jasper gets really het up about…
Untidiness and imperfections.

The defining moment in his career was…

That moment has yet to come.

For a day, Jasper would like to be…

Six years old again.

What would be Jasper’s soundtrack to life?
''One'' from A Chorus Line.

His biggest regret was…

There never seems to be enough time.

He would describe Jasper’s personality ask…

Passionate, temperamental, sensitive, caring and funny.

Jasper wishes the next Jasper Garvida...

All the luck in the world.

If he could live his life again…

He'd do everything the same...That’s what’s made him the person he is today.
