Hampus Bernhoff

I have just graduated with an MA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. My graduate collection consisted of 10 outfits with shoes, inspired by the artists Christo & Jeanne Claudes wrapping projects and 50’s couture. Growing up, I was overexposed to good taste. Thankfully, it worked to my benefit. Not only is good taste something that comes naturally to me, it made me want to explore the world of untutored design and odd aesthetics. Mixing elements of both of these worlds is usually a great source of inspiration for my work. It is challenging to create something aesthetically beautiful and slightly offbeat at the same time, and with this in mind I create. For my MA AW/08 collection, I looked towards my fondness for garish materials such as plastic, towelling and denim. I love to recontextualise these materials, carefully drape and craft them so that they come across just as any other luxurious fabric. The shoes are a hybrid, imagine a Cuban heel, a cowboy boot and a pinch of lambs wool mixed together with a mega chunky heel. In other words, I bring elements that should not work together, together…
