FAST MOVING COLLECTIBLE GOODS

...merging fashion and digital art

Divya Raman graduated from London College of Fashion with an MA in womenswear Digital Fashion. FMCG (Fast Moving Collectible Goods) is a design label conceived and created during her master's programme. Her design ideology employs digital technology in fashion as a toy and tool. FMCG merges fashion and digital art through an original and unconventional approach to garment creation. In the past, she worked as a Prêt-a-Porter womenswear designer for a leading design house on international sport and street brands including Levi Strauss & co., Orsay and FILA. In 2006 Divya was a finalist of Project Runway India and was subsequently invited to showcase at Lakme Fashion Week. Her collection "Tele-commandments: for a cathodic soul" explores graphic narratives through the fusion of lenticular animation and digital textile print. The pieces were created in collaboration with the innovative print firm Riot of Colour, London. Tele-commandments is a disrupted live broadcast from the glorious home of god.

Nothing inspires me like…
Reality, a trip to Palais de Tokyo, larger than life billboards, a dose of Café del Mar and Haruki Murakami.

I hope…
For mass elitism, Pangaea again and loads of gelato stalls in summer.

Cultural influences…
Brandalism, consumerism, capitalism and flushing these ‘–isms‘.

I got where I am...
Through crawling, falling, running and provoking myself constantly.

Fashion can sometimes...
Simultaneously make you go weak in your knees and run a chill down your spine. A hard boiled wonderland!

I sense…
And emote colours.

Did you know…
Palais de Tokyo is on New York Avenue in Paris.

Love now because…
It will never be affected by credit crunch, WW3, tulip skirts or Paris Hilton's British best friend.

Cake makes me...
Think of Smith and Pye, and how I got royally kicked by them.

Creativity comes from…
Rejection and the following resurgence.

My future is...
My past and my present re-invented in a bigger, better, uncut version! Of course with better makeup, flashlights and my design house.

My vice is…
Art imitates life and life imitates bad television.

Pain comes from…
Converting design illustrations to measurement charts.

NYC/London/Paris/Milan are...
Like North South East West; the directions on my fashion compass.

I'm an emotional retard...
Cough.

My biggest regret...
Would be if I ever regret.

Incompetence...
Should be banned from the human dictionary.

I wouldn't want...
To meet god, unless he paid the million he owes me, plus the perks promised in hell.

I love getting older...
Without the needles.
