NJAL in Eastern Europe: Riga - Oh Joy!
We brought the country to the city. To revive the grey concrete, to break the routine and give you a moment to reflect on what we are and where we are going. Sometimes surprises just happen and we have no influence over them but we do have influence over our perception. How ready are you to accept whatever life throws at you with a smile?

Gene - Lamentos en el aire
My collection is inspired by the poems of Clementina Suarez, my great aunt, Honduran poet. Her poems deal with love, sensuality, melancholy, darkness ... These elements I have mixed with my fascination with flowers, and I think that fusion is "Lamentos en el aire" title that I borrowed from a poem by Clementina.

Christina Sabaiduc - The Meeting Place - a 3D Film
This season designer Cristina Sabaiduc, used rock salts to grow crystal formations on feathers, focusing on the materials stark tactile contrasts. In collaboration with artist Jo Holland, the subjects were exposed to light & colour in the darkroom before recording onto photographic paper to create a range of delicate, yet dynamic images that will become the SS13 seasonal print. To illustrate this process, a time-lapse film is used to capture the growth of the crystals and the crystallization of the feathers over a period of several weeks. The resulting footage is then mapped via projection into a studio environment and across a model, dressed in the lightest versions of the current collection and filmed in full colour 3D. The set design, styling, props and makeup have all been designed to reflect the organic yet scientific nature of the collection via the medium of 3D film. The film is a commentary on the abstract dematerialization or spiritualization of the subjects, as matter transforms into energy. Furthermore, it explores the relationships between a garment, it’s wearer, and one’s perception of the external world.

RHLS - Water(Melon)World - Spring/Summer 2013
RHLS designers R. Mackswell Sherman and Sarah Jones leapt into the future delivering Watermelonworld, a collection conceptually light years ahead of .. everything. Up until now, Sherman and Jones have been known for their geometry-heavy garments, executed pieced-work style to sort of resemble "prints." For Spring/Summer 2013 RHLS allowed shape to move 360 degrees around the body without any background material.. A Rhombus acts as a shoulder strap on a tank top, obtuse triangle wraps under the arm to connect with Equilateral, beams shoot from equilateral across the hips to flatter and evolve the interaction of garment and form. Its a collection consisting entirely of interweaving, trellace like cut-out geometric bodies.
