Ayaka Nishi

Ayaka Nishi is a jewellery brand that is inspired by nature and natural materials such as bone, coral, honeycomb and spiderweb. Each piece is created by designer Ayaka Nishi at her studio in New York City. Ayaka was born and raised in Japan. Her enthusiasm for nature and anatomy came from her parents—her mother is a floral designer and her father, a physician. Her work is a clear reflection of this. The cooperation of flora and fauna in her intricately detailed work illuminates nature's simplicity. Her realistic depictions reflect her study of all that nature has to offer. After studying art history and aesthetics in Tokyo, Ayaka moved to New York in 2007 to study Jewelry Design at Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.). After graduating in 2008, she interned at CFDA award-winner Philip Crangi’s studio. Later, she secured a position at CFDA 2009 winner, Subversive Jewelry. In 2010 she began focusing on her own line.
