Andreia Chaves

Brazilian-born and living in Milan, Andreia Chaves is a shoe designer who graduated in 2010 with a footwear and accessories degree at Polimoda International Institute in Florence. Her work is an expression of interests, interpretations and explorations, and her ambition is to bring a perspective to fashion which is fresh, fusing the mastery of traditions and making an innovative approach to design, while embracing the potential of 21st century technology. "My work is an expression of interests, interpretations and explorations. To express the concepts behind my shoes, I explore the use of unusual materials associating them to technologies that are [still] rarely used in the Fashion Industry. An approach that interrogates our common perception of what 'fashion' means today, and what it could become in the future. Expression. Individuality. Change. Technology x Craft. Fashion x Design x Art are some key words for each one of my shoe concepts. The shoes are usually individual pieces, as I do not develop big collections to be launched on the seasonal fashion calendars, but limited edition series, and besides, the high heels are supposed to bring up a new fresh approach to fashion."
