For “Florentina Leitner” Fall Winter 23/24 Collection, Florentina got inspired by French heroine Jeanne d’Arc. A strong women fighting for her believe and then ending up being burnt on a stake. Specially the movie “The Passion Of Joan of Arc” by Carl Theodor Dreyer was a visual inspiration for Florentina this season. But also other Jeanne d’Arc movies and tales inspired the cuts materials and textile embellishments this season. Also the actresses which played “Jeanne” in the past years like, Milla Jovovich, Jean Seberg or Ingrid Bergman fascinated us and inspired our collection this season.
Florentina wanted to tell interpretation of “Jeanne” her story, in her FW23 Collection and fashion film. In Florentina’s story Jeanne d’Arc has survived the fire, and is reborn in the flames, because she is a magical being. Flowers erupt from the ashes, green and lush, like our faux fur coats and printed flower catsuits and dresses. Florentina and her team want to create a modern medieval Winter tale with the Collection. Strong women which survive the cold Winter days, in armour like fashion. Our Jeanne d’Arc of 2023, cool, edgy, gender fluid, elegant.
The collection is dark but floral and
took inspiration from the medieval times and fashion but mixed with Florentina’s signature pieces and elements. Our presentation set design of the already burnt down stake, symbolises that after chaos and fire there can be life, new things will start to grow and in dark times we need to see L(eitner)ight.
Post corona and inflation we need to rise from the ashes and better be well dressed. Florentina’s Collection brings joy, and also this is an important topic at our presentation in Paris.
