Retail concessions offered to emerging designers

Tuesday, 18 December, 2012

W O / M E N is a boutique showcasing emerging talent from the UK and other parts of the globe. Launched in 2012, the shop gives new designers an opportunity to sell their collections on the high street without having to invest in a retail premise of their own.

Just as department stores offer concessions to already established brands, W O / M E N allows the brands of tomorrow to set up small concessions in the store. Designers are offered space for one month, with a possibility of extension. The concept has already proven popular among new labels, RCA and London College of Fashion graduates. Products in the shop range from womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, jewellery and photography. Books by independent writers can also be found on the shelves.

The shop is located at 5 Cheshire Street, E2 6ED, just off Brick Lane. It’s a vibrant area with a mix of independent retailers and galleries offering products from vintage to the latest in fashion and design. Truman Brewery is around the corner attracting a design-savvy crowd.

The shop is run by POPUP Concept Events, London based company specialising in all things ‘pop-up’. The company works closely with established and emerging designers on innovative ways to promote their products to the consumer. Their recent pop-up shops in Central London and in Shoreditch featured fashion and product designers from all over the world, including London, New York, Milan and Hong Kong. The events featured in the Evening Standard, Time Out, London Design Festival newsletter and FX Design magazine.
