DISC: Launching Spring 2012

London College of Fashion announces the launch of the Designer-Manufacturer Innovation Support Centre (DISC). DISC is a unique and exciting project, designed to develop the demand and supply of innovation, information and solutions in high-end fashion manufacturing, sourcing, technical innovation and sustainability. DISC will be working with businesses in the fashion design and manufacturing industry to help them make London a leading centre for the production of high value designer fashion garments.
How will DISC achieve this?
DISC includes a team of highly skilled industry experts. Their experience incorporates factory production, global sourcing and sustainability manufacturing. With over 60 years of experience between the team, the DISC project is a unique collective offering assistance to London fashion businesses.
DISC offers support in four ways:
DISC: Online Knowledge Bank – The DISC website will offer on-line toolkits, market intelligence reports, case studies, listings, and knowledge matching service to all beneficiaries.
DISC: Workshops – DISC will be hosting a series of seminars, demonstrations and workshops promoting innovative ideas, solutions and techniques to both designers and manufacturers.
DISC: Tailored Support – The core of the DISC support structure is the unique one-to-one advice and support from the DISC experts. Businesses and experts will be matched according to suitability and need.
DISC: Incubator – in partnership with Hackney Council the DISC knowledge incubator will enable collaboration with the DISC team and manufacturers to further develop their business models and product innovations. This service will offer a more intensive mentoring system from the tailored support and will only be available to a select few organisations.

Who is involved in DISC?
DISC is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The DISC team is a partnership between London College of Fashion, London Borough of Hackney and Camden Enterprise (CENTA). The DISC team are based in Hackney, which is in the heart of London’s fashion district.
