ASVOFF Film Festival is welcomed again to the Centre Pompidou curating another unique and impressive programme of films and events. ASVOFF is founded and curated by Diane Pernet and is a travelling international event built upon a competition of short fashion, style and beauty films. For its Paris launch, ASVOFF took the form of a full festival, showcasing feature films, documentaries, conferences, performances and installations – making it a fashion calendar must-see.

ASVOFF embodies a major transformation in the representation of fashion: stimulated by new media and new means of distribution. Fashionable professionals are turning to the cinematic medium to illustrate their universe, from this experimentation a new genre is born: the Fashion Film that extends a role which was played until now by photography. ASVOFF has brought together names such as Mike Figgis, Steven Klein, Chris Cunningham, Chloe Sevigny, Dita Von Teese, Maison Yves Saint Laurent, Johan Renck... ASVOFF has been welcomed by some of the most prestigious international institutions over the last 3 years (Centre Pompidou, Jeu de Paume, Milano’s Palazzo Morando with Vogue Italia, Guggenheim Bilbao, Cannes Film Festival…) ASVOFF has now become the go-to-event for the burgeoning genre that is Fashion Film.

The Open Call deadline is June 30th. A jury will choose the best of the submissions and give awards under several different categories which include: Best Film, Best Art Direction, Best Acting, Best sound design... I want to align some of the bigger names in fashion and filmmaking with creative people as yet unrecognized for their craft, to inspire people to continue to make films that explore the film and fashion intersection. The criteria? The film can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Fashion must play a central role in the film. You must have the rights to your talent and music.
