Sometimes have you been attracted by a stranger who passed by and disappeared when you looked back, following with a series of sci-fi names, a time traveller, an alien or a shape-shifter. I would rather to call them ‘异邦人/YiBangRen’(people from utopia). With the inharmony and humanity of a stranger, and deeply inspired by pilots and oriental hermits, I have come to thinking about a crane who leapt through time. My collection is like a stop-motion film talking about mix- culture connotation, graphic appearance, functional details, and contrasting structured androgynous shapes with voluminous silhouettes. It basic developed from an original design of a parka, comes to a long-line proportion with east aesthetic, playful cutting and constructions. Many attachable hoods and shoulderpieces are involved by taking reference of military design. Innovative technique in fabrication is freezing natural feathers by sharp graphic topstitch, with a semi-transparent surface, like an amber. To achieve more fresh and contemporary effect, rubber and vinyl, cotton and linen will be brought together. The colour palette is mainly off-white and ink, punctuated with cardinal red, and reflective natural colour of feathers.
