BRIDIEBALLANTYNE

The suggestion is an outfit, initiated by a small scale tessellation image by M.C Escher. Through a self-directed puzzle, the image is exaggerated in size then manipulated as a single cloth on the figure to become an operable garment, whilst highlighting the interior contours of the image through mapped embellishment. Mood for the collection steps from early 1920s Avant-Garde Vogue posters, boasting influential elements of lavish traditional Japanese costume, in western dress. Fabrics stream from this affluent time; tonal, luxury, supple washed silk and velvet with contemporary, clean sparks. My collection depicts a multiple narrative in clothing function through the possibility of a transformable garment, to create a second lithe guise.
