BETTINA_GRUBER
SNOW LIGHTLY FALLS UPON A LANDSCAPE GENTLY ENWRAPPING EVERYTHING. HARD FORMS DISAPPEAR AND SOUNDS ARE MUFFLED. EVERYTHING IS COVERED WITH A SOFT LAYER - IS IT ONLY POSSIBLE IN A FEW PLACES TO DISCERN WHAT LIES UNDERNEATH.
The most important features of my women's collection are high quality materials and tactile perception. The materials were selected to invite being handled, touched and worn, an aspect which is underscored by the monochromatic palette. Rather than being created first on paper, all garments were produced through draping on the bust or experiments with material. At the beginning of my artistic process I designed 121 clothing fragments from which I then developed the final seven silhouettes of my collection. The flatness of loden, silk and cotton is used in contrast to yarn out of Alpaca and silk. Loosely entwined around the body, this combination is woven into a fabric and then dissolved again. Here the surface is consciously contrasted with its dissolution.
