With 12-21-12 New Blood, Bernard Delettrez unveils his new collection of Fashion & Fine Jewelry for the spring & summer 2013. Focusing on the crossbreed morphology of birds, the "Cardinale of High-End Jewelry" invites us into his private cabinet of anthropology where he unveils new sorts of genomic hybridizations made to measure for all true fashion epicurean or self-proclaimed dandies. Using the various body parts of the fabulous “Tetrapod Vertebrates”, Delettrez proceeds to sublimate the anatomy of the bird and its psyche by transmuting them into hybrid dismembered entities. Rings carved in bronze, silver & gold are mimicking the claws of parrots or the tiny legs of a humming bird clinging around ones finger. Necklaces in the shape of wings resemble the fossilized feathers of Condor or better yet some unknown species from the late Jurassic era. Along with the designer’s favored bestiary and vanities themes of inspiration, the 12-21-12 New Blood Collection unveils an unprecedented new line of accessories entirely dedicated to Men. The talismanic jewelry appear to have come straight from the dressing of Edgar Allan Poe or from the imaginary closet of a Tim Burton movie character. Tarantulas carved in bronze and silver, elektro skulls with flashy green, purple and metal grey or carved in ebony wood; and always that hint of surrealism “à la Man ray. The color code of the season is a clear evocation of the sacred, ultimately conferring the collection an air of immaculate purity. White gold, white coral, white marble, white diamond...are as many mirrors to our dark souls and the metaphors of the Memento Mori so endearing to Bernard Delettrez. As a bird newly hatch from there eggshell, we find in this bewildering collection the claws that will enable us to climb up on the branches of tree of life; the wings that will allow us to take that fateful leap of faith toward a life of adventures and accomplishments. With 12-21-12 New Blood, Bernard Delettrez attempts to transfigure the human condition. Dealing with dogmas such as religion, poetry and popular mythology, the collection pays homage to men's everlasting dream of harvesting the magic of flight, to conquer the air in order to free oneself from all earthly constrains and glide like falcons toward the promise of the great unknown; in the pursuit of Carpe Diem.

BERNARD_DELETTREZ's picture

Delettrez is based in Roma, Italy. He studied at Gemological Institute of America. His collections are produced in Italy.

Bernard Delettrez is something of a cypher. A very quiet, traveling man who prefers to let the jewelry he has designed for the past thirty years speak for itself. Yet the less he says, the more you want to know, especially when looking at the unique pieces that spill out from his soft black suede roll-up bags. Delettrez is always willing to go that extra mile by mixing a prize gem with material that are both complex and surprising; as long as they fascinates him. A Jewelry Collection by Delettrez often evokes memories from his Moroccan childhood where snakes are a man’s best friends, or taking inspiration from his beautiful palazzo and private ateliers in the city of Rome…to life or his second home in Kenya where he spends part of the year.
