Mid-20th century psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg elaborated a theory stating that times of hardship encouraged societies to produce amazing beings to protect it. This theory can be simplified; In times of financial instability, great creativity is born. Following this idea, Suburban Boys is a collection inspired by disenfranchised youth in Britain, taking references from Suburban Subcultures as well as “the boy himself”, an idealised image of “a cool street lad with a cheeky wink”. Todays youth subcultures are free to explore an expand their ideas without the limitations forced on previous decades. They have nothing to lose and seek action over words.

Benjamin Bertram believes that no matter who you are, or where you come from, the clothes you choose to wear are your own personal statement. Aesthetics are as significant as function, but it is equally important that our style changes and evolves as we do, and that our clothes say something about who we are at a particular moment in time.
