This AW/2014, Asudari plays on a myriad of influences to create a collection that features elements of masculine tailoring within sporty, feminine silhouettes, sharp suiting, geometric digital prints and Asudari's signature emblem, the formation of four interfacing A's.
Delftware ceramics informs a palette which is cooly minimal yet vivid in an array of blue hues that range from palest ice, deepest sapphire to the midnight tone of the twilight hour set against a predominantly crisp, white background.
Referencing weaponry, artillery and explosions, this collection embodies the bold aesthetic that has become synonymous with the label. Sketched pistols, hand grenades and machine guns taken from street art are emblazoned over long sleeved dresses, separates in stretched denim and an oversized bomber jacket.
Asudari's exploration of the theme segues into the finely detailed Exagun print, a geometric hexagonal pattern that appears across collared biker dresses, hemlines, maxi skirts, backless crop tops and biker suiting, moving into an exquisite bomber jacket featuring hand beaded revolvers circulating both shoulders and the rear in a rotating pattern. The jacket is hand embroidered with an enlarged star fragment crafted utilising gold piping to further mimic the geometric motifs seen throughout.
Touches of masculine tuxedo shirting are employed in juxtaposition within prints that recollect the luminescence of firework blasts on sleeved shirts and biker dresses. Key pieces in the firework print are created using tiny, hand embroidered paillettes alongside hand stitched perspex fragments which represent the bursts of light in a full length, blazer-style evening gown, straight legged trouser and strong suiting.
The journey culminates in the fusion of all the elements combined in a repeated firing cannonprint that merges literal and figurative arms in a flurry of swirling arms, fingers cocked flowing from neat blasts while emitting curls of gun smoke flanked by more circulating pistols. This is used to stunning effect on maxi dresses, shirts, suiting and a wide-legged, backless jumpsuit, the incendiary conclusion to an evocative showcase.
