Dark Matter is an hypothetical matter supposedly constituting 75% of the total mass of the universe. Dar Matter has never been observed, its existence can be inferred from gravitational effects on visible matter. If that invisible “dark matter” does not exist, the rules of physics as we know them are wrong. The key ideas for this project were doubt, be challenged, question everything, look beyond the obvious, push further. Challenging the most obvious notions of fashion design, garment construction and pattern cutting. Trying to question basic notions, blurring distinctions between front and back, inside and outside. Disregarding rules, my design process was more about improvising experimenting than about traditional pattern cutting and straight grain. The aim was to develop unexpected shapes and exciting new silhouettes. Twists, pleats and folds, huge abstract volumes, drapes are my design vocabulary.
