ANARCHANGEL
About the Designer
Steve is based in Los Angeles, United States. He studied at U.H.K. (University of Hard Knocks) Grad School- (The Street) and graduated in 1985.
ANARCHANGEL is an Los Angeles based accessory line that uses found objects as the medium for body art, Inspired by the beauty of the texture and decay of a blown out tire tread . The ANARCHANGEL-Tread Cuff is a one of a kind artistic statement that is rebellious , chic, yet elegantly chaotic . Made from strewn tire shards on the freeways of L.A., which makes collecting the material extremely dangerous and as deadly as the explosive energy it took to form these one of a kind pieces. Artist Steve David has always been fascinated with these, and as well as making tread sculptures in the art world he decided he wanted to design something totally unique for people like himself, who want something other than the usual precious metal and gems type of stuff. Being that this material is recyclable and green by cleaning up the cityscape makes it even more appealing to the wearer. A total bi-product of the city itself, Steve considers this material the exotic skin of the city.....in some parts of the US people actually call pieces of tread "Gators". Each one has its own unique story of how it got there and its something pretty much everybody has experienced, but it is the artists belief and goal to create beauty from chaos.
